I have to replace my tires and I was considering the Goodyear Eagle F-1. Has anyone changed to this tire? I like the P Rosso's and don't now if I should change to the Goodyear or not..any info would be appreciated.

If you like the Rosso's you will hate the F1's. The Rosso's are very stiff (95 sidewall rating) where the F1's are 90. I love my F1's because they are softer than the Rosso's. They handle great wet or dry. They are a little bumpy at temps below 40F.

I do not believe they are the D-3 that is why the sidewall is a 94

I just put a set of F1's on my GF's 330ci. The car is smoother, quieter, yet maintains superb handling and braking performance.

I just put a set of F1s on last week. So far so good. I have had the chance to use them in both wet and dry. They handle very well. I'm happy with them.

Stupid question, but are Z tires really necessary for the R? I mostly drive in a stright line and take an occasional corner agressively.

the 17s come in a 94Y and the 18s in a 91Y... personally, I prefer the higher load varieties out there, but having said that, I was seriously considering the F1s for a while....

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1-GS D-3 question (MASH)

Probably because there is so little sidewall left due to the 19" diameter. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/wink.gif" BORDER="0">

Re: Goodyear Eagle F1-GS D-3 question (hlt1634)

I replaced my 18" Rosso's with the same size F1's about 6 months ago, and immediately noticed they rub inside the wheel wells just a little when making a full turn of the steering wheel. Not a big issue, but it happens often due to the poor turning radius of the R.

They may rub a little, but they also have a very nice rim protector lip on them.
