I've finally decided that the flaws in the xc90 were just too much to bare and have now sold the car on.
The main drivers behind the decision were:-
1. Dealer service - could never sold problem unless they kept the car 1 or 2 days, never had even the most basic part, dismal attitude of reception and after sales staff (we got thru 3 dealerships- and all as bad as eachother), and they even broke a rear lamp then not owned up to it..
2. Car reliability / durability - very much below what one would expect for a premier vehicle - it was the silly things that were annoying ie. window falling out , cassette jamming, parking brake squeal (3 visits to fix), vinyl part of seats wearing thin after 20,000 miles, cheap plastic switching and trim, poorly finished trim-ie the jagged space at top of windscreen where the interior roof line is, the chrome around the window line is tarnished, this car will have difficulty lasting for more than 5 years and still look smart.
3. Car design - the steeped front windscreen reflects the whole front dash in bright sunlight- especially with the arena interior, the front door corners have a bad habit of nearly knocking you out when exiting the car, the arm rests for the driver are at the wrong level if you are 6ft tall, the conti spec tyres are a summer tyre we had as standard are useless in snow, the amount of brake dust off the front pads is huge and builds up very quickly, contrary to general comment i found the seats very uncomfortable, the plastic lens surrounding the headlight unit appears to be getting pitted from the bi-xenon heat.
what I liked :- great sound off the cd player, rear seat ent very good, engine performed well once car moving, storage capacity, safety --- all let down by the combo of dealer, quality, interior durability --- shame since when I bought it I assumed I'd have it 5 years- but had to ditch it after 2.
hope you fare better with yours..
