i am looking to get a sub installed, that doesnt look takcy or takes up too much space. just one 12" or sumthing to give a little more defined bass to my already cool 12 speaker 400 watt sound system the car came with. i dont want any amps or anything. i think its good on its own.
plus, any recommendations on where to go to get a good clean installation? adding speakers wont void any warranties will it?
thanks

Hmm...could be tricky. I'm not sure if how you need to hook up your new sub to the factory amp. But could be done....I just think an additional amp will be an easier way out when you need to add a sub.
I'm happy with my JL 10W7. I'll get some pictures of the trunk uploaded soon. Or maybe George already have something from the Carlisle GTG.
well I dont know if this is already understood, but you cant run a sub off the stock amps. They just arent powerful enough, and you will likely overheat them. If you just want a little more bass, then a 12 would likely be overkill. Look into the CDT 8" small box woofers, they fit into extremely small boxes. For that matter, I recomend two smaller woofers over 1 larger one, its always a better performance idea. Places that you can put these small woofers, if the installer is good and creative, are in the false floor over the spear, next to the tire well area, etc. I have a single 12" woofer on each side of the cars back, in fiberglass enclosures. Fiberglass is the way to go if you can afford them, they allow the installer much more flexibility, as fiberglass can be formed into any shape you want.

First of all, I think there are only 11 speakers, not 12 (4 on the back, 6 on the sides, and 1 center)
And I noticed that there is a connector labeled "sub" on the Sc-900. I dont' know where that leads to our if its powerful enought to hook a subwoofer. Maybe someone has the specs on the SC-900?
Also, regarding installing a separate amp and subwoofer, I'm not sure if its doable because how is it going to hook up with the "Pro Logic mode"? In that mode the front and the rear speaker sounds different right?
Leo

These holes are used in the C70 convertible for subs, in the C70 coupe these subs were rendered unnecessary due to the high output of the hatshelf speakers.
The "sub" connector on the SC-900/901 head unit is an antenna connector. This radio has a two-antenna diversity system for FM, the antennas are labeled "main" and "sub". The main antenna is the power antenna that comesout of the left rear wing, the sub antenna is located in the right corner of the rear bumper. As long as the main antenna has good signal the sub is inactive. If the field strength of the main antenna falls under a threshold level the radio swithes over to the sub antenna to check if this antenna has better signal and in this case uses this antenna until the main antenna gets a better signal.
