Posted in error on the general forum....
Well, took the plunge on a new company car today and made a deal on a nice 2.4T.
I haven't put any money down yet but I am supposed to pick it up tommorow and sign the papers.
Wanted to run it by you guys.
Basically I payed $300 over the dealer's invoice. Now the invoice was identical to carpoint's except for a $425 advertising fee.
So even with the ad fee I payed $725 over on a car that stickered out at $35900.
Anyway, I got a Metallic Grey with the follwing options:
Premium Package
Touring Package
Cold Weather
Tethys 17" wheels (love the 45 sec rubber)
Front Fogs (dealer installed).
Since it is a company car I plan to lease it. The current rates are very good. Couldn't get them to drop the $495 acquisition fee but otherwise I got a great rate. I will post the residuals and money rates on another thread.
Only bummer is they could not find one with the Geartronic auto. Oh well.
Anyway. Is this a good deal gurus?
Steve

It was the wierdest thing. My dealer is Village Volvo in Bel Air MD. Although it is a relatively small dealership, they are the largest by-volume Volvo dealer in MD and have been for many years.
Anyway, I walks in and talks to Eileen. Nice lady. Tell her I am looking at a 2.4T. The one on the lot was perfect. She pulls out the invoice and says "What would you feel about letting us make $300. Is that fair?" Now this was before I mentioned that I would be leasing. I agreed without much thought. I was going to give her $500-$700.
Now I know they get a holdback but there is no 'dealercash' on this model right now so I guess they made holdback+$300+leasing profits.
What was intereting is that during my time in the dealership we priced up a loaded T5 which got up to $40K and she was still willing to work the same deal i.e. $300 over.
So I guess I'll sign the papers then!
Steve
[This message has been edited by Vetteguy (edited 01-30-2002).]

I thought I remembered hearing it was Annapolis Volvo, though I could be wrong.
Sounds like you got a sweet car for a sweet price. Welcome to the club.
There's a pretty active group down here in DC and we get together from time to time. We're thinking of trying to put together a show n shine the weekend of the Volvo Ocean Race in Annapolis. Keep your eyese on the Events forum as that's where we normally post that stuff.
[This message has been edited by [email protected] (edited 01-30-2002).]

I think they are/were the largest by volume single brand Volvo dealer i.e. they don't sell any other brands.
It used to be Mike Martino's Village Volvo. Mike sold the dealership about two years ago to a conglomerate and bought a sub shop down the street (seriously).
He still does consulting for the new owners.
Anyway, I've been there twice now, didn't buy the first time 5 years ago but was and still am impressed with their professionalism and low-key sales pitch.
Steve

[This message has been edited by Vetteguy (edited 01-30-2002).]

She just right off offered you $300 over invoice? Are volvos selling badly or something that she gave you $300 over right in the beginning?

Make sure you look over the car really well during post delivery and inspection, and don't forget to break-in the engine/car right.
-Drew

Well I have owned/driven many Vettes. My current 74 will get to 60 in about 5.5 (G-Tech)and do a 14.3 on a good day (track). The Vette which is a small block with the ubiquitous Comp Cam 262H cam has a ton of low end grunt right off of idle and of course revs out at about 5K. It is also a three speed Keep in mind that mine is only 'mild' compared to some of the Vettes in the local club.

The 2.4T I guess is about 2 secs slower to 60 and maybe 1.5 secs slower in the qtr. No 'Corvette' grunt of course but still what I would call 'Nippy'. When I've driven it a bit more, I'll answer again.
Of course the Volvo also has a rear seat, working air, brakes
