Wow, that is tight for sure! I would pick this one over the silver one. I have never seen that interior; Sand Alcantara/Black leather combo before, looks sweet. I even think that the chrome wheels look bad-arse too.
-Drew

Re: Good looking Blk '00 R ([email protected])

yeah, the interior was a first for me. The asking price is pretty high, so I am hoping he comes down. But according to the owner it is mint. I just hope it's not an R-Title, flood car or something else.
He has a transferrable Volvo VIP warranty good until 11/05. the current owner added the spoiler and he mentioned a cargo cover for the rear space.

Yeah, I love the interior combo, very awesome looking. I think black trim inside w/ the silver trim combo is much better than the gray with silver trim that we saw at Annapolis GTG. Almost as good as my silver on silver look.
The car looks pretty kick arse..got that Italian Mob look to it. Very different...I just hope you are not keeping those wheels in chrome. How much is the guy ask for?
You know what you need right after you get this car, right? That is to get my turbo upgrade. :D
Good luck on the purchase, keep us updated. It'd be fun to see this car in person in our next GTG event.

local Volvo service advisor didn't seem real hip to the AWD R cars. He said they are very cool and have all the bells and whistles but the AWD system is so sensitive that he would not recommend them. Tires need to be of like brand and treadwear and tire pressure and if the angle gear fails, Volvo will send a rep to examine and they have denied repair, $2400!!. He also mentioned air pumps are another problem area not covered under any extended warranty ($700 fix).
I hope I can crawl underneath and see if anything is wet or leaking. I am checking it out tonight in Manassas. The guy is from Culpepper and he is asking $30k.

$30k seems really high--i know that it's not like apples to apples, but there are a lot of 01 v70 t5 asking $32k. there's one right next to where i work and it has 17" bbs rims and he's asking $32k.

Re: Good looking Blk '00 R (83caddy16v)

wow, this puppy was CLEAN! If it wasn't for two minor scratches and a slight impression on the center console trim piece this car looks brand new. The paint is in excellent condition, the interior is beautiful, carpet and floor mats look new.
There were three of us in the car on the test drive it has a little lag down low, like the other hi-pressure turbo Volvos I've driven. I didn't get on it really hard but it drove very nice and handled very well with the 17" Nitto tires. the window tint is pretty dark but that will be good for our baby in the back. This was the first wing that I had seen on a V70 and I like how it is not drilled on, it clips on. The chrome wheels look better in person than in the picts, I wasn't sure I was going to like them.
I took a closet door mirror with me and slid it under the car, everthing looked bone dry and after the test drive I kept the engine running and popped the hood...no oil smells. the only negative was one of his rear wheels is out of balance (or so it seemed to be an out of balance wheel.)
24,500 miles on this puppy and I think I will be hard pressed to find a nicer 2000 R. The owner seems like a very nice and very particular individual. I asked if I could have a local shop go over the car and he was fine with that. if all goes will with the inspection I think I may have found my new V70.

Hey...congrat~~! I'd really like to see this car in person. When do you think you will be getting it? I think this calls for another GTG in DC/VA/MD area to celebrate your new purchase.
Hopefully I will have my new turbo installed earlier next week after I get my emission passed on Friday. We should definitely meet up to check out your new ride.

Re: Good looking Blk '00 R (The_one_n_only)

just spoke with Volvo and confirmed it has the VIP warranty, the car was a "select pre-owned" from Volvo - similar to the new certified program. Has 2/24k that kicks in on Nov. 29th, 2003 plus the remainder of the 4/50 warranty.
My wife has given the ok, so hopefully we can do the deal this week.

Congratulations! After your long hard search for a V70R, it sounds like everything is coming together. I wish you luck on closing the deal. I definitely want to see it in person.
Larry

That looks very nice Chris. Now you just need some nice BRIGHT silver Volans on that bad boy. Although, your 17" C70 5-spokers might look nice also.

Thanks.
I think the first thing that will be going on is a little swedespeed sticker that is sitting in my toolbox.
I think if you just de-chrome those and do bright silver, they would be pretty kick arse. Or maybe some other factory 17s? I'd wait for the new R to come out and use that set of wheels it has.

Re: Good looking Blk '00 R (omega6_virus)

The trouble with refinishing chrome wheels is that you have to take so much of it off. It's not that it can't be done, it's just a PITA. If he'd wanted to he'd be smarter to sell them and buy another used set. It'd probably cost less. BTW Chris CONGRATS on the great new car.
