My dad recently gave me permission to get a CD player in his car as long as I pay for it. I was wondering, what do I need to look for and what is a good unit to put in his 94 944? I am looking for something from 100-200. Doesn't need to be the best, just something that doesnt suck and works well.

That is a pretty broad question with about a million answers IMHO.
If you plan on doing the install yourself, take a look at Crutchfield.Com, because they have about 70 CD receivers that are priced from $200 and below. Personally, I like Pioneer products, from an ergonomic standpoint and I like Kenwood for features. The Pioneer DEH-P4400 amd Kenwood KDC-419 for example, both at $199.95.
The Aiwa CDC-MP3 might be a good choice since it is only $179.99 and can play back MP3 songs which is a big bonus IMHO.
If you plan on someone else doing the install, you might go to your local install store and check out what they have because you will want to factor in the installation price along with the head-unit price.
-Drew

Well, I have like 600 to spend on it. I don't want to spend all of it of course, but I am considering that I want something that will last. So I kinda went up into the 350 at most. I've looked at crutchfield and sounddomain.com and have seen a lot of nice stuff, I am just having some trouble deciding. But I think I will go with the JVC Kd-SH 707. It looks really nice and has some good features and possibilities for me to add stuff to my car.

Nice choice...

In that price range, I also like the Pioneer DEH-P7400MP. In addition to playing MP3/CD-R, it is also XM Satellite ready.

-Drew

IMHO, I would go with an Alpine, Eclipse, or Clarion for something that will last. These are all top brands of headunits known to be of good quality.
