I've had my '95 855M-NA for about ten years now and love the thing to death, but it does have it's electrical gremlins... The most annoying is that occasionally when I close the lift gate, it will trigger the central locking. This can be pretty problematic as you can imagine! I've got a valet key in my wallet but it still makes me nuts. The central locking also occasionally acts up when I unlock the car with a key; it decides that it doesn't want to be unlocked yet and relocks itself...
Wondering if anybody has had similar door locking issues and what luck/input they might have. I suspect an intermittent short inside the rear gate but thought I'd check in with you guys first.

Thanks for any input. This is mainly a minor annoyance but it could get ugly fast!

Rear hatch, check the wiring harness at the hinge.
You'll have to remove a couple pieces of trim to see
it, but broken wiring may be shorting a lead to ground.

The doors not remaining locked sounds like the central
locking system sensing a key still in the ignition. Shoot a
little WD-40 or Tri-Flo in there, then insert and remove the
key about a half a dozen times to loosen up the " key in" switch.

Thanks, I'll give those a shot... The hinge makes sense and I probably would have thought of that last.

The doors don't want to stay unlocked which makes it worse but it seems like it could be the same short at the gate. Will update...

I apologize - I misread your post.
Forget the 2nd half of my reply...

If the car keeps locking itself and
it also happens when you use the
tailgate, by all means, start there.
