Hey George and Prospero we should meet and compare Volvo notes sometime. I noticed you both live close by in MD. I live in North Gaithersburg. Prospero, you're on Brickboard a lot too right? Anyway talk to you all later.
Scott K

I'd be in for a gtg. I have a red 850R sedan with bright silver painted Volans if you should see it floating around. I also know of a guy with a red R wagon (think it's a '96) who's also in the area. I met him at Flagship one day while cleaning our cars. Saw another red R over at Kentlands.
What's a good date and meeting time for everyone? We can wait until April or May when it gets warm and weekends are always good. For a place anywhere in the area of Montgomery or Frederick County would probably be good. If anyone has any suggestions just post them, I'm open for anything.
Talk to you all later.
Scott

Depends how many of us there are I guess. We could all just meet up at Flagship one day, or even better... when the weather gets warmer, we could meet up at the Kohr Brothers icecream down on the north end of Rockville on 355...down below 355 Volvo.
I'd be interested in a gtg in a month or two when it's a bit warmer. Hopefully by then I'll have my smashed up fender replaced and my lowering springs and shocks on the car. I also just got another huge dent in my car this past weekend, and the person who did it didn't leave a note, so I've got more stuff to fix. Since everyone so far seems to be in MD, I guess that would be a good place to have it. Would mid to late April be a good time? FWIW, May 18-20 is the big Carlisle, PA car show.

Hey guys, a GTG sounds nice, but before the Carlslile show. I would love to GTG in about a month or so, that way we will all have some time to detail and "make ready" our rides. If the GTG turns out to be an all-day event, I am willing to drive ~2 hrs for it. BTW, I am about 40 min from DC or Reston. I know of a few decent public places that may work, I guess it all depends upon what everyone wants. There was a great GTG with VW's in Reston Town Center on the top of a very quiet parking garage. Food and shopping is right down the stairs and it seems like the area was generally receptive towards professional, nice, and laid back car lovin folk. Anyhow, just an idea...
Prospero
Why don't we figure sometime in March right now, unless the weather gets better, then we could do it sooner if possible.
Carlisle split their shows this year. Most Volvos go to the Import/Replicar show and the VCA usually shows up in nice numbers. We have some shots of last year in our show coverage.
If we're going to do this, we should probably cross post on brickboard and volvospy as soon as we have a date and a location.
Definitely a good idea. Based upon the amount of people that are in MD, I think that we should do something in or around Montgomery County. I have seen a few decent locations; I just am unclear as to the permissions necessary to use them. George, have you done anything like this before? I would love to help organize things but I have no experience with all the aspects of a GTG like this. Any idea as to the possible turnout? The VW crowd had ~100 people show, think that we could expect 50 or so? Just guessing...
Prospero
I think if we post on Brickboard, we should get a few more people. As far as a meeting place we could try a local park (Lake Needwood, Seneca Creek (small entrance fee), Black Hills regional -- I can smell the barbecue!!). I don't think we would have to arrange anything if there were 50 or less people there. Post or e-mail if any of this sounds good.
Scott

That is pretty much what I had in mind! Picture perfect blue sky, nice 70+ degree day, breeze blowing the sweet aroma of freshly applied carnuba wax, barbecue pit flaming, and Volvos from all round the land gathered in a nice park so their owners can gather and talk about them. I actually have a tear in my eye just thinking about it. Let’s go!
We did a gtg at Black Hill last summer for VWvortex. It was a lot of fun. We just showed up and used an area, which was fine, but if it is prereserved, that costs money, then you can't use it. We made out alright, brough our own hibachis, but it's easier if you get one of the covered areas with built in grill.
It's in Boyds Maryland, just outside the Damascus, Germantown area. If you’re driving down Rt 355 from Frederick, then you make a right turn on W. Old Baltimore Road. And the park will be about 1.5 miles up on your left. Really nice park. Any idea on dates? We should post on Brickboard to see what kind of interest there is. Should we post for all Volvo's or just the 850/70 series? I think we should do it for all, the more the better! Post any thoughts.
And Prospero, do you have any pics of your new dash lights??!!! I really want to see how they came out. Talk to you later.
Scott

Hey all,
Please someone, dont' forget to take a digital camera with you! I wish I could come, but I am too far away! Looking forward to some pics of all those boosted 850's
-Drew
