Does anyone know if it is documented somewhere the time it takes for a Geartronic to shift when requested by the driver? When I shift manually it seems like a long delay from when I push the stick to when it actually changes, and so I often see the engine rev past where I wanted to shift.
Also, when only in sport mode (no manual shifting) it seems very "clunky" when upshifting. I understand it is holding the revs longer and when it finally releases into the next gear there would be some noticeable change, but it is pretty extreme. I don't get the same "clunkiness" when i shift manually, just higher revs.
Several people have said in the past that the GT adapts, but I haven't really noticed that.
Maybe it is unfair, but I am comparing it to the sport shift mode in my Jatco mated EX35...it is pretty smooth with in sport mode.

Re: Geartronic shift speed/clean shifting (inteller)

had Volvo clear what the called "transmission adaptations"....woah this is better.
But could I have done that with just removing the battery cable?

Remove batter cables and hold them to each other for a few seconds to reset the ECU...
Do this once a week and you'll be happy.

Re: Geartronic shift speed/clean shifting (AthruC)

The clunkiness comes from the increased line pressure commanded by the sport mode. It's supposed to be there (to a certain extent).

You should notice after shifting back to GT / non-sport, that the car is shifting higher up in the rev band, will downshift more willingly, etc.
