The desire to hold another Northwest R GTG exploded into several proposed events, two of which are officially beyond the planning stage. Taking Jim Lill's cue, there are three all-new threads in the Swedespeed Northwest Events Forum. Here are quick links to each event:
1. Lead Foot 60 did a wonderful job putting the Griot's Garage event together:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=60286.
2. Proposed IPD GTG and drive south for Seattle-area owners:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=60708.
3. Proposed Mt. Rainier driving event:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=60712.
Let's continue using the existing Northwest "R" Meet thread (link: http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=59433) in the R Forum for the Chuckanut/Whidbey event and use the above threads for the other events. It's WAY too complicated tracking all four events in a single thread and I am afraid people lost interest in the events for this reason.
These all sound like great events. Re: FYI - New postings on NW GTG's in Swedespeed's Northwest Events Forum (RainyS60R)

So, what's with the "R" specific meets? I put out there the Evolution Sports car show/drive to Leavenworth which is open to all euro makes/models, so I guess the "R" meet wouldn't work for you...?
I just don't see the need to splitting everyone up into their own corners to only hang out with their own kind, it's all about seeing other cars and other people, unless you're scared of change/us/our cars?

The discussion originated in the "R" Forum, because that's where I read and post. If you look at the original NW Meet thread, you will see that there are now a couple of T5 owners and even one Mini Cooper owner interested in attending. Also, I proposed two other GTGs in Swedespeed's Northwest Events Forum and they specifically state they are open to all.
I'm a pretty laid back guy, but don't be so hostile or attempt to slam me (or others) without checking your facts first.... besides, why is it such a bad thing if a few local R-owners choose to meet once in a while?

- Tryg

You might not be the odd man out - there has been nearly equal interest from R and non-R owners, at least for the IPD and Mt. Rainier events. That said, the low level of interest in the proposed events is disappointing...

I just got back from a trip out west (my sister graduated from EWU ... so if anyone is looking for Elementary Education teachers on the West side ......) and in coming down 410 from Chinook Pass, we saw literally at least 35 corvettes in a pack, about 20 Alphas shortly thereafter and then a police guided pack of 50 - 70 motorcycles.
I'd give my left nut to be able to make an R run through Mt. Rainer!
BTW ... not sure on your dates, but check the road closings ... rockslides on 123 had the road from Cayuse Pass to the park entrance closed and I think it was not supposed to be open for another week or two.
-Ben
