I picked up some adjustable bungee cords from a company called Keeper. They're called Zip Cords. I have some longer ones that I usually keep in my garage for when I use the outside off the back bike rack.
Well, yesterday I had to haul some old boxes a couple of miles to a dumpster. I loaded up the car and couldn't fit it all, so I put some up in the roof rack and pulled out the bungee. The plastic hooks in the cord fit on the side bars of the rack perfectly.
I was surprised, but I thought I'd pass it along. Little known fact brough to you by Cliff Claven.

I hear about people wanting to remove their racks, with objections to the looks, I suppose. But I know as soon as I did I'd have a use for it.
I'll keep an eye out for Keeper's bungee cords.

They're usually in auto parts stores or hardware stores I find.
BTW, have you ever seen the racks on V90s. It's a smoother design and it may bolt right on.
I don't mind the look, and the functionality is totally worth it.
