Full Size Spare

Just purchased 2012 C70 Insignia that did not come with donut spare.

I'll be putting 17" wheels on for winter driving.

Wondering if a 17" full size spare fits in the C70 boot?

i mean it will fit but will occupy a lot of trunk space making it challenging to put much luggage in there with the top down. having gone through a few sets of rims, i tried putting a 18x8" full size midir spare but it was just too huge so bought one of those smaller 16"x4 emergency donuts to put in there and it fits into the spare space much better/flatter. got mine on ebay, but here's one new:

definitely don't rely on the flat-tire-kit that that's in the rear seat/pass through. tried it once when i found a flat while car was fortunately just in the drive way. the glue was dried up and the plastic around the pump head pretty much disintegrated. it's what prompted me to get the donut.

I bought my donut online from Ohio recycle yard. Used, but it is enough for my purposes. Take me to the next service exit or to my home, whichever is better. I learned in the past when I had a donut and it went flat (wheel was at shop while I made it to work and planned to stop on way home) that the spray goo is useless in that situation. There is no bead on a donut, the pressure of the air inside is what holds the tire to the rim so when flat any spray goo blows out at the rim and makes a mess of me and all around me. Then it is time to call it a day.

My car didn't come with a spare, either, but I ended up buying a space-saver spare (as originally came in cars with the base 17" wheels), plus the correct jack, tools, and foam tool holder.

I would never use goop to fix a flat - that said, the inflator is worth keeping in the car, as you can also use it without goop, as a pure inflator, in case of a slow leak.

I don't think I would go that far! Tire goo wouldn't be my first choice; but I'd use it in a flash if on a desolate Texas highway(or LA or GA or MS or SC where I drive most).

Pretty sure we had this discussion on the forum a few months ago (if you get a flat on the road and put on the spare, the flat tire has to go somewhere, right?). Yes, it will fit as others have noted, and as others have commented, a spare from a junkyard is a pretty cheap way to go. I just pulled a 16" spare yesterday from an '07 S40 that I'm keeping in my '13. I keep forgetting to put the spare tire kit from the '08 in the '13 when I go on road trips, and it cost me big time last year.
