Nicholas;
This is the first mention of a V6 - BE CAREFUL!
This car could cost you a bundle in repairs for the engine unless it has been perfectly maintained from birth.
Sure, a modern Volvo 4-cylinder engine/trans would fit but the swap could cost as much as the car.
A Volvo B230F 4-cylinder engine with auto trans (OD) will get about 18mpg city and 22-24 highway and even less in the heavy 780.
If the V6 780 you lust for gets about 18-20 on average it would require a ton of miles driven to get your money back after the engine swap.
Does this car have repair/maintenance records?
George Dill

Like dill said not worth the effort to convert for just a few more MPG. But i have a problem with two other more pressing issues. One is the 2.8 V6 and buying a car with one. And two is a 780 and buying one period unless your really into S&M. A turbo 780 is one thing if you really have the need to do something wierd and pay for it alot. A V6 780 is down right kinky and way going to cost you big time everyday it is in the shop. And that is if you can keep it running at all, before you get to the CUSTOM(no longer aval nor made long when they were) 780 parts issues. Plan on alot of $$$$$ and a true classic not driven much trailer queen car.

Well we never said anything about you not buying a car. Just that you should not by any 2 door 780 seris for both reasons. The V6 issue and the rare to find patrts for 2dr part. A sedan 2/7/9 seris is fine with us thou with out the same V6 in it thou. The gas I4 and gas I6 (think hard on the diesel if you do go there) are fine.
