We loaded up the R yesterday to head to Lopez Island in Washington's beautiful San Juan Islands. We were the first car to not make the 5:10 sailing, meaning we were the first car on the 6:50 sailing, putting the R front and center on the ferry.
I tried to take some cool shots, but with only my cell phone camera accessible because of how we packed, here's what I got:

The last one ends up being my favorite, as the view out the front of the car was beautiful after I stopped running around the car to take photos.
Enjoy the weekend-
Re: Front and Center (kr900)

Forgot to mention that I played around with 4C a little bit while on the boat too. The ride on ferries isn't necessarily smooth, it was a bit bouncy.
I turned the key to "ON" but without the engine running, and tried all 3 settings. As you'd expect, the 4C smoothed out a lot of the chop in COMFORT, while transmitting most of it in ADVANCED. It was an interesting little experiment.

Very nice pictures. My co-worker goes there for vacation every year.
Good for you that they leave so much distance between the cars.
My experience has been on the Long Island (both Orient and Port Jeff), Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard ferries where they pack the vehicles a lot closer. I think the reason is that yours is a pretty short trip. The Nantucket ferry takes around 2 hours, IIRC.
Enjoy your vacation!

Re: Front and Center (kr900)

Lopez and Orcas are my favorites. Don't really like Friday Harbor/San Juan Island.
But Shaw is the second-best island (after Lopez) for bicycle touring in the San Juan's IMO. I also found it very cute and endearing that the Order of Franciscan nuns manned the ferry dock. Sadly they had to sell out the convent and real estate at the the landing when they got too old to keep working 16-hour days.
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/....html
