All four Volvo/Cannondale men who rode to top-twenty finishes in yesterday's Men's Cross-Country World Cup event did so on Cannondale's newest invention, the lightweight, short-travel Scalpel. Christoph Sauser won the event, narrowly overtaking Roland Green, who suffered a flat tire halfway through the last lap. Teammate Cadel Evans rolled across the line 13 seconds behind Sauser-good enough for third place. Two other Volvo/Cannondale riders placed remarkably well: Kiwi Kashi Leuchs nabbed 11th while veteran team rider, Tinker Juarez, was the first American across the line, 19th overall.

While the men mopped up cross-country competition, Anne-Caroline Chausson continued her win of the Downhill discipline. Anne finished the short downhill event more than a second ahead of cohort Missy Giove, and took second in Dual Competition, losing first to long-time rival, Leigh Donovan.
