I posted pretty late, last Spring, about these snow tires being up for sale so this year I am starting NOW!
I have the snows from my previous car ('98 V70R); they are 15" tires mounted on (naturally) 15" Volvo steel rims. They were only used for one winter and they have less than 3,000 miles on them, so LOTS OF TREAD left! The rims are totally unharmed, no bends and no scratches. They have been sitting inside my garage stored inside plastic bags (individually wrapped) and stacked ON THEIR SIDE...so, as you can see, eventhough I have not been using them I have been taken care of them very well.
They are mounted, balanced, ready to go! They will fit any 850, S70, V70 or C70. I am willing to part with all four for only $475 and you pay the shipping. If you live withing a 60-mile radius of Philadelphia, PA I will deliver them to you. If you live in New York, North New Jersey, New England and/or Baltimore/Washington, DC area I can make arrangements to have them delivered to you since we make many runs getting cars out of those regions very frequently.
Let me know; my e-mail is either [email protected] or [email protected]
Yannis

Re: FOUR Bridgestone Blizzaks for sale (GrecianVolvo)

These will even fit over the calipers on Rs? I thought 16" was the min size for the V70R?
Do the '98,99 & 2000 Rs have the same size brake calipers & discs?

>>"These will even fit over the calipers on Rs? I thought 16" was the min size for the V70R?
Do the '98,99 & 2000 Rs have the same size brake calipers & discs?"<<
**the owner's manual for the 1998 V70R AWD insists you use 195/60/15 wheels and snow tires on all corners for winter driving.
i have a set of Blizzaks mounted on 15" x 7" Borbet (tire rack)alloy wheels for my R, and found it impossible to get the car to skid, slide, drift or donut. it's a major bummer. so this winter i'm praying for the mother of all ice storms, and i plan on keeping the 205/55/16 summer slicks on 'til they are completely bald.
the horror though...is around here (Philadelphia) a typical January can be downright balmy, and the Blizzaks on a hot, dry roadway handle like a shopping cart with cats for wheels--you have no idea what's going to happen--just that it will be ugly, embarassing, and frighten the horses.
for winter driving, you still can't beat a rear drive car...in fact...rear drive is the only relyable and fun way to get your ass in big trouble...in any season. BMW knows this: stearing with the gas will never go out of style.
rumor has it that some of the "R" cars did have the "big brake" (302mm) option and came stock with 17" wheels because the 16" rims will not fit over the calipers.
but every R i've seen has the 280mm brakes, which will easily take a 15" wheel.
perhaps those who live far from the snow and ice have seen the R cars
dealer stock with the big front rotors?
can you imagine a performance tire on 18" rims in winter conditions?
i'm expecting that what with all the cap-backwards children hot-rodding their Hondas we're bound to see some fools trying it...
the horror....
the horror...
