finally committed to fix the following for my R:

1: input shaft (for difficult engagement in 1st and reverse when tranny cold)

2: infamous axle ping noise (click, click...) during slow-roll and change gear between 1st, 2nd, and reverse.

3: parking brake loose and unable to hold the car when parked on slight incline.

got all three issues fixed within 2 days, my car drives like butter
rock and roll. I hope the axle ping doesn't come back.

thanks to Joseph for the recommendation. Gloria was very patient in assisting with documentation and asking good questions.

Re: Found an awesome service dealer = > Bozzani Volvo (stevectsai)

Since 1911? I don't think Volvo even started producing cars until the mid to late '20s, and I doubt any of them made it to the US through a dealer network at that point. Maybe Bozzani has been around since 1911...but I doubt they even saw a Volvo until the '50s-'60s (if not later).

More importantly...glad you found a good dealer!

It is nice to see a good experience at a Volvo dealer. They are so few and far between. Kline Volvo in Minnesota is the WORST high end dealer I have ever visited. The other (Borton Volvo) is known to be alot better, but it is another 40 plus miles one way. With Ford investing so much money into Volvo, you would think that they would put a higher importance than what is at the Volvo dealers on CUSTOMER CARE! What.....customer care and Volvo in the same sentance?

I go there for service. They do the regular stuff fine but I feel like they don't take any of my special requests seriously. I tell them about TNN's that I've seen on this forum and they give me the the
routine for seeing stuff on the internet. It took me a couple visits to finally get those infamous 4C sum updates. Thanks for posting though, now I know they know about the axle ping issue. I just hope I can convince them to check my angle gear and not just brushing it aside.

Well glad to hear their service department is great. I was laughing my butt off tho when I noticed they have a used 06 R with about 7k miles for $43k (premium package with 18" rims..nothing more according to autotrader if I remember correctly). Ridiculous price if you ask me but hey if they can get that kudos to them for being awesome sales people

I'd be amazed if any tech/service manager from any car dealership listened to a customer when a sentence started with "I read on the internet..." Unfortunately, we as the customer seem to be a little more informed on certain specific issues than the darn techs do. I really hate that but I guess that's just the way the world works.

This is totally unrelated, but everytime I read about how good this dealer is and how you should go to this other one for great service, it's usually either in California or the New England area, mostly New Jersey.

Why is that?

Ford/Volvo is trying. Lincoln has been BIC (Best In Class) in customer service so long it's staggering. It would seem be a quick step over to the other PAG (Ford's Premiere Auto Group) brands - but it's not always the case.

Because those areas have a higher concentration of dealerships and thus have more 'good' dealerships by simple ratio.

Well, my question is not so much how many dealers are, but how many R's are in those areas compared to the rest of the country. Florida in my case.
