I started drooling when I saw this auction. I really want it but can't afford it on a student's budget. I felt that the vehicle should be sold to someone who can appreciate the car. So here is the info http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1873110303&category=31879

Those early coupes aren't holding their value. That depreciation is good for those who want a performance bargain.
Another good buy out there is the late '99 S80 T-6. They're starting to get cheap also. You have to be careful buying them, but it's a lot of car for the money.

Is there a reason why one needs to be extra careful buying either of those. Did quality drop on those?

Not on the coupes that I know of.
On the S80s, at least the early ones, there were recurring probs. That's evident if you watch the customer satisfaction index on a site like Edmunds. There's a good thread on early S80s in our S80 forum entitled S80 Questions. Yannis went into it there, including Vin Number groupings.
