Ya i know this is a silly question, but i have been without a floor jack for a couple years now. I've forgotten what brand i had before, but I've been looking at a couple brands and realized i don't know what's good anymore. I'm looking at a price range < $100. Any advice would be great thx

Two words..... Pep Boys. I got mine for under $75 and it is an alumium frame so its hella light weight. I have had it for about 6 years and works flawless!
Todd

Your lowered on Eibach's in an auto s40 so like me you only have 4 inches of ground clearance.
You need a low profile jack to get under the car, the price range there starts at $200+

I bought a low profile jack at walmart for $30. I think it's called Black Jack. I've been using it for 4 years now. Still works fine. I believe it goes down to 3".

I bought a crafstman from sears, somewhere between $50-100, fits under my car just fine (lowered with Evolve blue springs). Definitely on the heavy side, don't leave it in my car: I only use it at my apt, I still have the crappy little one that came with the car in the car for emergencies. The craftsman has been great, no problems and I've used it regularly for all the stuff I do.

Re: (carreragt7)

My dad got me one as a housewarming a few months back and i think it cost like 50$. Low profile and came with two jack stands haha. Works like a champ and is fairly light as well, throw that thing around the garage all the time. Pretty sure it came from just an auto parts store, nothing special.

My chunky Craftsman one doesn't fit under my car anymore.
I've heard good things about Harbor Freight's low-profile aluminum jack.
It can't be any worse than the jacks that Pep Boys and Walmart sell... I guess.

For ~40 you can get a set of jack and two stands at many auto parts stores. You might have to drive your car onto something to get the clearance, though. A sheet of plywood is enough extra clearance for me (FWD, H&R 35mm springs).

Re: Floor jack (chrisasdf)

After looking around for a pepboys (30 miles away no thx) I'm going to head to sears and pick up a jack there. Thanks for the input guys.
Next up, modding a jack??

Yeah, but that's easy. park ~1 ft behind where you want to be, place 2x4 in front of tires, slowly drive up on one, engage parking brake, jack up car.
Done. Maybe I'm the only one here who has bought a low profile jack only to come home to find that it's not low enough to get under the car.
