Hey guys,
As some of ya know, I've got a 93 850 GLT (automatic), and, recently, it's been playing up. The light that indicates "Winter" mode has been flashing, and it seems to jam my car in Winter mode (which means I have no acceleration).....
I've tried disconnecting the battery, and that helped for a bit, but then the issue came back. Today I popped the bonnet ans switched the fuse for the ECU, and it hasn't acted up since. My question is, are there any remedies to this issue? I don't really have the cash to get it fixed, so I'm looking for cheap solutions. Any and all help is appreciated.

Normally, when the Up Arrow is flashing, there is an issue with the transmission. Did you check the computer to see if there are any codes?

With the car off, row the shifter back and forth through all the gear selections about 20 times. It should help clean the contacts on the PNP switch. You can also clean it by disassembling it as seen here before replacing it. http://www.matthewsvolvosite.c...o-850/

Re: Flashing "Winter" light........... (93 GLT (S60R Fan))

Hey, that's my fix.
Anyhow, if this works you still will have to replace the switch, this is only a stop gap fix

Re: Flashing "Winter" light........... (JRL)

Here's what's happened of late......
After I switched the fuse, it was OK for a bit, then it started playing up. I popped the bonnet up, and pulled the fuse out (while it was still running). After that, it's been fine for the last few days.........Should I still clean out the tracks?
