Hello All! I'm a new V70 R owner and looking forward to contributing to this forum.
In the meantime...I have a loose section of door seal about 8-10" (maybe a foot?) near the top of the pasenger side door. The adhesive is tacky, but doesn't quite hold rubber to metal. Anyone have any experience with regluing these, or is it something I should have done at a reputable shop.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Re: Flapping Door Seal? (kbern119)

I had a flappy gasket on my VR's passenger side rear door, it didn't stick and basically just fell off. The car is under warranty, but the dealer told me that it doesn't cover gaskets. They advised I get some silicone sealant and run a bead along the inside of the gasket, then push it into place and shut the door to hold it overnight. I actually just carefully reapplied the gasket and it hasn't fallen off since, that was about 5 months ago. If it becomes a problem again, I might go the silicone route.

Thanks for the reply n23. I'll try to maybe let it sit in the sun for a few minutes, and reapply like you said. Since its only one section maybe I'll have some luck keeping it on there. I'm out of warranty anyways. Did the dealer mention how much it might cost to replace the whole thing?
Thanks.

if you want to replace it, its definitely something you can do yourself.
Remember, dealers charge over $120/hour. at least down here they do. So you could be paying $200 to replace a seal that costs $50.

Re: (mpdbrown)

why not just get a bit of weatherstrip adhesive and put a few blops (technical term ) on and be done with it? Follow the directions, easy to do, and the adhesive is only a few bucks at auto parts store.
I wouldnt use silicone mostly because you will never be able to get it off if you need to replace the whole thing somewhere down the road (well, you will be able to, but much more difficult than with weatherstrip adhesive)
No need for a new gasket/seal if it isnt torn/beat up.
