hello all
just had my UK 2.0D serviced at 18000 miles. This was the first proper service - it also had one at 6k miles when I bought it nearly new.
This cost me 329.99ukp, which seemed like a quite a lot for a glorified oil- change. Is that about the going rate?
Other work which I had done under warranty, in case anyone's interested
cruise control sometimes wasn't engaging - about 1 time in 20 (i.e. press 'cruise' button and nothing happens) - cured (so far!) by software upgrade.
radio and air con sometimes fails to start correctly. Radio on preset 10, air con inoperative. Happened about 1 start in 20. Fixed (so far) by software upgrade. I'm not sure if this was the same upgrade as fixed the cruise control.
Electric child locks (Family pack) not always working - locks replaced, works fine now. The dealer commented that this is (only?) the second V50 he's done this to.
Rear wash wipe leaks - 'they all do that sir'. Is this true?
have a lovely day

Aye, shockiong amount isn't it - I paid about £340 for my 1st service and £290 for my 2nd which passed recently. The independants weren't cheap enough to justify going to them.

I think most dealers here charge about $45 US (~25 GBP) for an oil change. And that's pricey compared to the "quick lube"-type places here which run $15-$30.
but surely a sump-full of synthetic oil must cost a lot more than that? or do you bring your own?

I don't know what the dealer charges for synthetic. Most people here (including me) seem to bring their own, at around $30 for 6-7 quarts.
