I'm still waiting on specs, but the new S80 debuted today at the LA Auto Show. It's a modest cosmetic refreshening, but worthy of a look. Here's the first pic Volvo has released. As far as I can tell (quick check on the other Volvo sites), we're the first to have it up.

Huh, doesn't look all that different. I do like the new painted look. And the wheels are pretty cool. Still, it's so subtle, I bet most people may not even notice.

George,
Sweet! I guess that they really didn't do anything to the outside except for different wheels and painted trim. The headlights do seem to be shaped a little different though, more sharp towards the grill. Also, notice there are no more headlight 'wipers'.
-Drew

That's great. Are you expecting to also have more pictures of the XC90 from the Detroit auto show next week?

Yes we are. Volvo will undoubtedly release more pics on the 7th which is when their press conference is. I'm going to beg and plead with one of the production guys to get it up in a timely manner, or to get Volvo to send us the pics so I can set it up before I leave. I'll be at the Detroit Show covering it but will be limited as to what I can do from there. When I return, sometime two weekends from now, I'll be putting a full gallery up on NAIAS including an in depth look at the Volvo stand.

US cars will have that option as long as they are equipped with the Cold Weather package.
Yannis

Maybe they are going with a high pressure setup like the Germans.
BTW, why would we have more cold weather packages than the Swedes. That doesn't make a lot of sense.

Lastly, from what I gather from different sources, the high pressure headlight wash system will not be available until MY2003.
Yannis

It is not unusual to see an S80 T6 with cloth interior and only driver's side airbag, no sunroof, etc.
Here in the States, the consumers are far more demanding and/or spoiled so the US-specs Volvos come with options thata European would not be willi g to fork the extra Euros that would be needed to equip them.
Yannis
