Hi,
Well I have now picked up my beautiful 1986 245 DL and have slowly started learning the art of driving a stick. BUT i also had a non-standard tranny problem and i wanted to get advice on it.
When I first started driving the car 2 days ago it was incredibly difficult to steer. So the next morning when it was bright out i popped the hood and there was tons of "fluid" on the hood. After a bit of investigation I opened the power steering resevior and found it to be almost dry. I looked around in the engine bay a bit and found that infact the power steering hose had somehow come to rest against some kind of pulley... slicing the hose open and with the roataion of the pulley dousing the hood and areas surrounding.
Well I tried to fix it myself, but this being my first time ever looking under the hood of the car I didnt know what to do. Luckily the local mechanic took some time to fix it, so I could drive up to NH that afternoon.
Basically I was wondering if anyone had a good (BIG) shot of the engine bay of one of these cars so I can see where the hose SHOULD be... and find out from the mechanic we bough the car from why it was precariously close to the pulley.
Also... how easy is it to do simple maitenance on this car?? Anybody have a good source for bentley manuals... or something similar?
thanks
