During the 1950s, Volvo developed a utility vehicle for the Swedish Army. Originally powered with the Volvo B16 engine, later models were powered by the 1.8L B18. The L3313 was succeeded in the late 1970s by the Volvo C303. An upgrade version of the L3314 was offered to the civilian market as the C202. The Civilian versions of the L3314 are often called the Volvo "Laplander."
