Not sure how long ago I started the project but it's in and I took it for a drive this evening. The increase in power from the B18 isn't a hell of a lot but there's still some fine tuning to do. The carbs for instance and whoever broke into my garage last year stold my darn timing light. I scored one at a garage sale a couple of weeks back but it doesn't work.

The overdrive I'm going to like ! It works great and the transmission itself shifts way better than the old M40.

A tip. When installing an M41 put the wires on the 4th gear switch on BEFORE you put the tranny in !
There is very little room in the tranny tunnel.

You can wire a momentary switch to a normal relay (four prong) but the only way to get out of OD is to take it out of 4th gear to open the 4th gear switch.
I'll probably just leave it that way because I'm lazy and nobody else wants to drive the dammed thing anyway.

Also the speedometer cable I got from Andrew Nance (mi ght have spelled that wrong) fit perfectly!
I'd read about issues there but there was none with that cable.

On the boat engine the block I only had to remove a pin to install a car timing gear cover. The head required drilling and plugging some water passages.
This was an 8 bolt block but I put 6 bolt guts in it. The bellhousing bolts are metric but everything else was standard.

Now that's interesting. Which bolts exactly? The front ones into the block, or the back ones holding the trans? Or both?

Definitely get it timed. You'll notice the difference.

Just the bolts on the back of the block where the transmission bell housing bolts on. They're close to the same size so no drilling was needed.
Every other bolt in the block and head were the same size / thread as the old B18.

When I first saw the Penta with all the marine crap on it I didn't have much hope of it fitting.
