It all started back in July of 2001 when Anthony Hai picked up his 1995 Volvo 850 GLT. Since he already had a fire breathing 220 plus horsepower Ford Focus for hunting purposes, Anthony's first intention in getting the 850 was to have a car that was more civilized. He wanted something similar to what other commuters had in northern New Jersey. Anthony ended up getting an excellent deal on the 850, as it was going for only $10,000 and had 75,000 miles on the odometer.

Upon closer inspection, it seemed that the car needed some attention. To bring it back to original condition, Anthony had to spend some extra money in restoration, such as fixing some suspension components and doing some minor engine tune-ups. After about one month of work, the car was back to "normal" condition.

All was well, but in February of 2002 Anthony noticed something was not working in the sound system. Upon closer inspection and monitoring of the original speakers, Anthony found out that both 6x9's on the rear parcel shelf were no longer functioning. In an effort to repair the system, Anthony headed to Circuit City seeking some expert advice.

Anthony,

I'm thinking of switching my rear deck speakers out. Do you have a pic of your rear deck w/the Polks? I am hoping to retain the stock grills for that ultra-stealth stocker look.

Btw, very nice feature to the both of you! Your car is gorgeous!!

What I'm really dreaming for is an MP3 player (mondo hard-drive) that has a wireless nic inside that I can use to d/l music to while the car's sitting in the garage at home. I'd never need CDs in the car again. There's some Jukebox systems, but I haven't seen a wireless one yet. I'm lazy and love having my laptop out in the garage while I work on a car or home improvement project, so I love wireless access.

I just got the new Crutchfield (Summer 2002) and noticed that they now carry Alpine products. They also have some neat new DIN units that play CD/CD-R/CD-RW/MP3/WMA with built in 10-Gig hard-drives, but they are quite expensive IMO.

Sony MEX-1HD $1,499

Pioneer DEH-P90HDD $1,999

The Kenwood eXcelon Music Keg is only $749 in comparison for 10-Gigs.

Hmm...is MD still that popular nowadays? I didn't know if it actually became popular the past few years, but thought it was more popular over in Asian countries...where most of the people take public transit and need something more convenient than CD walkman.

I know that is the case in Japan....last I heard they could just 'rent' music CDs at very good reasonable prices.

Last time I used the MD player in my headunit was when I found Terrence's old MD in my garage after we bought his car.
Just wanted to try if mine works....

About the Alpine MD receiver, I am not sure if it is compatible with the MDLP format, because I don't know what that is.
Uhh, the main reason I got the MD receiver is because my girlfriend has more than 40 MDs, plus after I installed the CVA-1006, I can still fit something in there, so I opted the MD.

Javadoc,
Hmmm, maybe I can snap some pictures on the rear deck speakers, but I want to tell you that mines are totally stealth, covered with stock speaker covers, that black piece. All I can say is, the new speakers fit nicely.

Kai,
Wha....? Did I say something about your C? Don't even remember.

Mpeng168,
Show your wife the article on my car, maybe she will change her mind. hee hee

I still have some little thingy for my 850, E-code lenses, clear corners and a rear deck wing. Hopefully I will have those pieces before 5/17.

Hehe...that is something you'd rather not remember. It was something said to Gilbert then came back to me...nah, you were too nice to say that to me in person.
