My wife has been showing interest in the R in the past couple of weeks, she typically isn't too excited about it. Earlier this week she asked to borrow it to "pick up some supplies for my classroom". It was a ruse.
She took it to have the Volvo Bluetooth Handsfree kit installed as my fathers' day gift from her and our daughter. What a great wife! I'm pretty happy with how it works. I had been telling her about the kit for a while, even that I wanted the keypad mounted below the HVAC controls rather than on the dash to the left of the dash cubby. She was able to explain that to the tech who did the installation, so the keypad is right where I want it.
I'm not crazy about how the installing dealer routed the keypad wire between the pen holder and the HVAC controls, which causes the pen holder to fit a little funny. I'll likely drill a small hole in the panel on which the keypad is mounted to make the installation cleaner.

Overall a big thumbs up to my wife for getting me this . I do know it was a bit self-serving as a gift, as now the radio will mute when I get a call, so I won't miss her calls because I'm playing music too loud. That's probably a good thing.
She rarely drives the R, so she isn't as familiar with its dimensions as she could be. When she borrowed it for the day to have this installed, she "curbed" the passenger-side front wheel pretty badly. Managed to make a pretty good scrape halfway around the wheel. She knows how I'm protective of the car, so she felt really badly. Life goes on. She borrowed it to do something really nice for me.
So here is my daughter, helping me wash the R as a part of the Fathers Day gift.

Since she was so interested in the grille, I told her there were 300 horses in there, and that she should look inside to try to see them. She did. This is her looking for the horses. What a cutie...

Have a great weekend-
Nice setup. I like the location of the Bluetooth. That pic is soooo cute of your daughter looking for the hoRses! When my son is old enough to understand simple english, I will have to tell him about those horses.LOL

That is too funny, looking for horses. I love little kids!
About the bluetooth: You may be unhappy when you open up the panel to drill that hole. The wire is attached directly to the back of the keypad, and it does not disconnect. In order to pull it through a hole in the switch panel, you'll have to pull it all the way through however they have it routed to the controller (don't know where they stash the blue box, but it's gotta be buried). Let me know where it is, as the bluetooth in my truck will end up in the R someday soon.
You'll love the bluetooth, it's a great gift from your wife. Think of it as her looking out for your safety, as it's much better than a headset or even a normal car kit. The ability to blast it through the stereo speakers is awesome.
