It started yesterday, radio stations just started quitting - lost signals even on ones that are very strong in the area . I even swithed over to sat radio - and nothing. Just fuzzz and squealing.
I checked fuses, and whatever else I could without tearing into the car. That is all good.
How much do fact head units run, anybody got one? I don't want to put in an after market one, just one more reason for someone to break in, and I like the factory look.
It is a 10 year old car, things are destined to die, but I've never heard of this happening. Any help would be very cool.
Thanks Yo! Scott
Look on Ebay, if nothing there you can send it out (to H&R) for a rebuild, probable cost, around $250 or so
If you need a name and address let me know...

I also hear that the dealer has a "swap" program going on where you can swap your old non-working Sc series radio for a rebuilt working one....price is the same....$250 (read this on another forum).

Through the antenna input? The first thing I would do is pull the head unit out and get a look at the antenna cable(s) and wiring harnesses into the existing unit. The fix to this might be free.

I've gotten a lot of input lately, that satellite radio doesn't play well with the factory stereo.
Like; Something about antenna in the window, road noise, volvo's just do that,( just be glad you don't have a newer one) . These are the answers I get from PRO Audio guys, WTF.
Everytime I put an aftermarket radio in a car, the car gets broken into.
I really DO NOT want to put a new H/u in this car, Does anyone else have this problem, I'd much rather spend the $ elsewhere

If the CD player works when the radio quits, then the problem has nothing to do with the sat radio. I strongly doubt this is the source of your problem.
I did have the radio go bad on mine, would work when cold and then die as it heated up. CD player still workded.
Got another one from the dealer exchange for $125.00 with a warranty. Replaced it twice under the warranty until I got one I liked that didn't skip on CDs or have other problems.

Scott,
You never answered my question about how the satelite radio is connected. Is this an RF connection, either tapping directly into the antenna lead or broadcasting over an air gap?
If so, why not try connecting your satelite radio via the one of the aux input accessories described here:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=13955
The one that I'm using has two aux inputs that you would select via the external CD changer inputs:
http://www.discountcarstereo.c...D=715
This would completely bypass any RF connection or RF transmitter system, leaving your radio reception to the original factory configuration. In addition, you would also have another input that could be used for an MP3 player.
Lastly, I would completely ignore any statement from an "audio PRO." They *all* are in it only to make money, and none will ever give you a straight scoop. Thieves!

I'm still running the fact radio, with a sirius sportster hobby kit.
and I just have a dedicated radio station, I guess it's an fm modulated setup.
I talked to some different audio guys that said, with out replacing the h/u
with an after market one, apparently volvo's have this problem.
As far as your suggestions, I'm going to pull the radio again tonite and see if anything is back there. Thanks man.
And you're right about the thieves
