April 3 is when the new programs come out.
The incentives will probably be just as good, if not better for purchases.
For leasing, now is the time.

Agreed. The farther we go out the 2006 model year, the worse that residuals will become.

Or can I wait a few weeks to order a car and still get the incentive?

Based on what I've heard, if you wait a few weeks, you won't be able to order any R.

When you say residuals will become worse what do you mean? Big residual (maybe >55%) is bad if you plan to buy it out at end of term, big residual is GOOD is you plan to hand it back at end of term and start again.

I mean that the later in the year that you decide to lease a 2006, the worse the residual percentage will be since the car is almost a year old when you drive it off the lot. Of course, early in a model year will have the best residual percentages but the money factor may be bad. It's a balancing act and as Eric mentioned, now is about the sweetspot if you want to lease.

Thanks for the postings, I am actually looking to order a new R, not lease one... did anyone have more info about being able to order one, or a cut off date? Would I be better off waiting til April to buy or should I go for it this last week of March? Any more help would be appreciated! Any past experiences, maybe from previous years?

Typically, a dealer can protect the incentive if your buying an in stock or on the way vehicle (I think it has to do with VIN or no VIN). If you found something you like, ask for the protection and if the incentive gets better next month, go with that one. If you're planning to order, you are at the mercy of whatever incentive is out when the car arrives. Also remember that incentives are not usually that great at the beginning of a new model year if you wait for a 2007.

Maybe I wasn't clear but what I was asking for is your definition of 'worse residual'. If you just want low monthly payments and will not buy it out at the end of term 'worse' is a low residual (50% or less). If you don't care about high monthly payments and if you plan to buy it at the end of term 'worse' is high residual (>50%).

Re: (MagoonR)

I just found out tonight that Volvo Canada's new programs will start April 1st. My dealer told me that she believe's the programs will be very similar except the lease residuals will be lower which means smaller buy-out but higher monthly payments (good or bad depending on YOUR situation).

She's pretty cool and said that although my car will be registered on March 31st, if (and that's very unlikely IF) the April 1st programs are better for my situation she can re-register on April 3rd in the new program. Something similar happened when we got our XC90 in 2005 and in that case it was a $1500 credit toward dealer options (we got running board and rubber mats which was a really nice surprise).

I had a feeling this was comming, it was just a hunch when I orderd my R and somehow the timing is working out just right. ....okay, okay it was a pure fluke
