Re: Face-lift (ZAF)

Nobody's heard anything, but a typical Volvo refresh cycle is three years. Of course, since the S40 appeared in mid-MY04, three years from what is anybody's guess.
Whatever it is, my bet is it'll be minor.
Tom.

It doesn't really need one to stay fresh looking - as it's not as if familiarty is destroying its looks!

Re: Face-lift (ZAF)

What changes one would expect?
Do you think a more powerful version will be introduced? e.g. 260bhp found in the C30 concept car.

Re: Face-lift (ZAF)

Styling, mainly. The 3ish-year refresh usually changes little design-wise, and definitely doesn't introduce new models. However, there are exceptions, see the 2007 XC90 that's getting the new I6 engine. Note that in 2007 there won't be any turbo XC90's as a result!
The engine in the concept cat is just the older HPT S60 engine, btw. It isn't going to be the production engine.
Tom.

Re: Face-lift (tmtalpey)

But the rumors say that there is more powerful engine that will go into the C70. And if thats true. Then I see no reason why we wouldn't see it in the S40 and V50.

Re: Face-lift (ZAF)

C70, C30, S40, V50 - what platform are you talking about?
Sure, there will be changes in each over time, but the C70 was just released, so don't hold your breath. The C30 isn't even on the market so none of the regions have even selected from their options, or at least said so. The S40 and V50 are probably doing as well as they can without messing with the platform. Long way of saying, don't hold your breath.
Tom.

My money is on the changes being that we get the C70 front bumper and tailights and then call it a day!
-Nelson

The C70 rumor was about an introduction of a new engine (an addition to the currently lineup probably) which is more powerful than the T5, and this was supposed to hit the market ~2008. The S40/V50 are expected to get a facelift during that time AND since the C70 and S40/V50 share the same platform we might see "that engine" in the S40/V50.
I am not saying its going to happen, but it could.
The engine won't be more than 260bhp (most probably) since the C70 only comes in FWD (the rumor did not include an AWD setup) so more than 260bhp from a STOCK FWD is a bit too much.
