Re: Evolve ECU software updates (PornSStar)

If the dealer updates the ECU, you'll lose the Evolve programming. If other control units are updated, there is no issue.
Tom.

Re: Evolve ECU software updates (PornSStar)

To be a bit clearer, they can "plug" it in but they have to stay away from the ECU programming and any upgrades that it may take.
Just being hooked up to the computer doesn't mean they will wipe it out.
The computer asks the operator if they want to download a certain operation. As long as it's not ECU related anything else can be done
If anything else (such as a new door actuator or something similar) requires software or downloads you'll be fine as long as you tell them not to do any ECU upgrades.
Tranny upgrades are fine too as are any of the similar above mentioned

Tom, is there a flash involved with the 158 recall?

Re: Evolve ECU software updates (S40 T5R)

Not that I'm aware of. But, Volvo's system will scan the database for updates applicable to the individual car and many techs/dealers will install them. The S-S-S fix comes to mind.
A good servicing dealer will let you take an "if it ain't broke" position. Ask. It's your car, after all.
Tom.

Thanks guys...my dealer Volvo of Savannah is really good about this stuff but I will certainly have to make sure. I have had enough issues w/o having to worry about another reflash

Re: Evolve ECU software updates (PornSStar)

Just spotted on my local Volvo dealer's web site a notice that they sell and install Evolve ECU software updates, as well as other packages (suspension, bodykit, exhaust, etc.). This seems like a new wrinkle for Volvo dealerships. Anyone else's dealership offering anything like this? I'm more apt to consider something like this if the dealer is standing behind it.
Here's a link: http://www.thevolvosuperstore.com/service_center.htm

Re: Evolve ECU software updates (SwedeSpouse)

Cool. I posted a few months ago asking about Chicago-area dealers who are open to aftermarket things.
