Anyone had a CEL with RKelly CAI setup with the EST filter? I've been considering an intake setup for my R, but I don't want a jacked-up MAF or CEL. (or both )Pros: good air flow
Cons: lots of folks have constant CELs with the AMS setup
Solution: go twin Rkelly cai intakes with an EST filter [fraction of the price too!]
EST filter is oil free, unlike k&n, so no worries about fouling up the MAF. The hardest part is routing the 2in hoses and telling yourself it's ok to cut holes in your airboxAnyone had a CEL with RKelly CAI setup with the EST filter? The whole point is releasing the negative pressure from the box. Cold air intakes are pointless on a turbo car since the air is heated by the turbo and then cooled by the IC.with the AMS isn't it still a hot air intake (with a little cold air from the factory ram)? I would believe a duel R-Kelly style and the factory box would flow more cold air then the AMS at a fraction of the cost (and worry of getting a CEL)
I have the dual setup and it's nice...just no cool intake sound. Wish I was smart enough to make a door on the box that could be opened up at low speed for less restriction. The Rkelly's are probably better described as ram intakes, now that I think about it, and they certainly provide plenty of air to the engine. In fact, they actually provide positive pressure in the airbox, basically forcing air down into the turbo. Makes for a happy engine
I've never had a CEL with the Rkelly set up.
I'm confused what the heck is that 😨Agreed!

A+ work sir! Thanks. One of my CAIs now sold by IPD provides more air flow than stock intake, eliminates all vacuum and starts to build positive pressure by 30 mph. I run 2 because that is even more positive pressure. Posted video of manometer testing proved all this.
More importantly, gtech testing showed a consistent 10hp improvement with addition of one CAI in third gear over stock intake alone. That was posted as well, believe in 2007, but all that testing is in old CAI threads listed in stickied "launch thread".
And over 900 CAIs have been sold over the last 7 years, and no one has ever reported a CEL.
