I believe that Ford is attempting to offer the market a full share of performance vehicles. By creating the list of cars below, they are making their own niche for all their car companies as full duty and all use cars.

SVT has a supurb lineup of cars right now IMHO. The new SVT Cobra should kick some major arse and the SVT Ford Lighting is pretty wicked. But the biggest surprise is probably the new SVT Focus. I think that is has won every single comparision test review that it has been in.
Pretty impressive if you ask me. From experience, the ZX3 is a great handling little car. Jaguar has already started, now Volvo needs to get into the game quickly and give us the 'R' family.
It looks that way. Jaguar will be adding R versions of all its cars as well, and if the S60R is successful, the V70R isn't fare behind, though an S80R might not happen, you can bet there'll be R versions of all the new P2 based cars (30/40/50 series).
Thanks Yannis, the last time I spoke specifically to them on this, going back a few months now, it sounded more up in the air. Frankly I haven't asked in a while, but it seems only natural to me.
What I mean with vapor is that every new development at Volvo takes so bloody long that by the time Volvo can deliver all the other brands are on a different level.
Look at Audi with their V8 Allroad.
Audi can deliver in a few months.
Why do you think Volvo is showing this ugly ACC2 at Geneva?
It's only a message to the Volvo crowd to show that it is possible but the Haldex AWD will only start production on the V70 after week 35, end of this year.
Preproduction models of the R have been build in Ghent, Belgium but the XC in made in Sweden.
I know it exists but the is nothing yet.
I think the waiting is for the new and lighter 2.5L engine which is going to be used on the R and the XC in a LPT version.
I would really like to see a T5 with AWD.
I do not understand why Volvo is waiting so long to ditch the Visco AWD system, it's not receiving very good press and the Haldex AWD is a real eye opener at the moment.
Forgive me for being so negative but the ACC2 is a real insult to a lot of customers.
Another 1 to 2 year roadmap and nothing at this very moment.
Ford have always done this - just not in the US. This is because pretty much all other manufacturers have done the same abroad.
With Ford let's go back to the Late 60's early 70s with the Lotus Cortinas.
Let's go back to the 70's with the Escort RS1600 and RS2000.
80s with the Sierra XR4i (not the crappy US Mercur with the Turbo T-Bird lump), and the Cosworth Sierras, Escort XR3, XR3i, RSTurbo and Escort Cossy Turbos which would wipe the smirk off of any current 'fart can 'n striped' import pilot, Fiesta XR2s, Sapphire Cosworths and the Capri 2.8i
These were all awesome vehicles. Every european model had a hot rod version: Sierra, Escort, Fiesta, Orion etc
Over here we had the SHO and the SVT vehicles but now Ford are applying it to their other brands.
About bloody time!
While they're at it, buy Peugeot and import the 406!!
I don't know that the ACC2 is anything more than a design study. Sure, they may be trying to guage a more powerful V70 XC, but then why not call it the PCC3 instead?
I think it was more the idea of designing a concept for the particular location it was to be shown (Geneva Switzerland), making a car geared for cold weather use.
If you accept it as just that, I think it's kind of cool. I don't see it as an insult at all.
It'd be nice if they could get the Rs to market more quickly, but you have to remember that for the V8 allroad, there wasn't much dev involved. The A6 4.2 Avant already existed in Europe as did the allroad. All they really had to do was tweak the suspension to handle the extra weight.
