Well as of today, it's officially 6 months of ownership of my MY2004 Titanium Grey S60R and as a celebration of getting over 1000 posts on Swedespeed. I'm presenting to you my R as it sits today and an evolution of it in a sequence of pictures as to how it came to be.

I'm proud of it and how the R is holding up, as well as proud of how it's evolved over the last couple months since I took over. The original owner is still in contact with me and he's seen some recent photos of the car and is in complete awe as to what it has become.

Just a background about myself... I'm an avid Volvo fan, My family has been Volvo owners for decades. My family used to own an old 80s Volvo 244 (actually uncles, but my dad liked it a lot), and then in the 90s a brand new Volvo 744 TiC(this became my first car and first love) I began wrenching this car when it was passed onto me and I learned a lot about car repairs, upgrades, mods including very ghetto ones like cutting springs, zipties, hose clamps you name it.(thank you TB!). A few years ago, my dad bought a brand new 2005 S60 2.5T AWD and fortunately I was given the opportunity to drive it. In my later years of school and my first job, I then bought a used 850 GLT and it's still with me now (and being revamped). Dad has since switched to a C30, lol really not his style but he loves it. But it was until Dec 2009 where the 850 GLT died a miserable death(err maybe coma) blowing it's weak 13G turbo and resulted in perma storage(I have been working on her lately though).

This is how the current R came to be and in my hands...

When I first took ownership of this car, it had 98K on the odometer and at the time I was in a huge rush looking for a car. It was merely a hit or miss, and realistically I would have been at great risk of getting something really bad if I was not as lucky. This was obviously not the case, the owner was great and very positive throughout the whole ordeal and he presented all the receipts and service records and the car was in fantastic shape.

I couldn't resist not modding her, since I heavily modded the 850, and I modded the 740. And a lot of the mods I actually did myself or with some help of my best friend where we tackled them together just like the cars and previous cars we've owned. (Thanks Man!) I've gotten my hands dirty on her so many times that I lost count, which includes the damn wheel bearing, painting the new lip, waxing her over and over again, mounting the pcc spoiler, fixing the darn droop, trying to mix nordcap paint, sanding the bloody spaceball, painting the front lip, trying to fix the darn roof trims (GAWD I was so pissed that it's not fixable and couldn't fix it before the meet) the list goes on and on... Sweat, blood and more sweat(no tears :p ) has gone into this car.

Here she was 6 months ago with the pictures on an ad online.

January 2010

I then mounted the machined finish Pegs that were originally on the 850 GLT (posted on VS) about 2 weeks later...

April 2010 - Voxx Misanos and 05 Taillights.

May 2010 - Huge upgrades! Got my hands on martinbs's oem sport kit with side skirts and rear. along with winglets from this forum. Unfortunately I experienced an odd setback with the foglights exploding on me when I tried to clean them a bit. Got the kit painted along with the side trims. I also installed Henry's PCC Spoiler and new exhaust tips. also minor mods like Fog light grille de-texturize and new paint. Pictures are from the Wasaga meet for those that remember.

Late May 2010 - Clear Headlights from Luciano and a couple minor under the hood mods...

June 2010 - Interior mods - Polished spaceball surround as some of you know, IPD door gauge install, TWM Shifter etc. Sorry no pics of this on hand...

July 2010 -CarbonFiberWerks V Style Lip - See install thread:

As she sat at the CVC Meet in London 2 days ago after Eibach rears

So from the last couple months; from absolutely no lookers to plenty of looks on the streets and at meets wondering what car this is. Believe me, before my car, was only Lowenharts car on Toronto streets with the Full Sport Kit including winglets, Canada never got the option.

I personally have to thank Swedespeed in general for all the inspiration, entertainment, guidance, information, advice and most importantly friendship ( you should know who you are ;-) . Without this forum, I wouldn't know where to start or how to solve certain problems as easily and probably would have went in circles..

So here's my way of contributing back to the forum and hopefully you'll find this thread entertaining, inspiring or just downright RRRRonderful...

Good looking R. Tastefully modded. Wheels must be a b!tch to keep clean.
very nice!
The body kit was a huge transformation, looking good
Looking good!
Clear headlights are realy nice. Are the DRL still operating as stock?

They have the projector housing, but I have not installed HIDs in them, I don't see a point. I might do that later but it's DRL as it stands. I have ideas on how to mod the headlights further and properly install a projector housing rather than how Luciano approached it.
Nice sir nice!!!!!! i cant wait for my winglets.... one problem.... im poor now!!! LOL ooo well PB&J for 2 week is worth it!!
Dam very nice looking R! Keep up the good work sir.
Car looks great man! Was good to meet you guys at the Naughty Volvo event.

When was the Wasaga cruise? Would have love to join that one - any others planned? Maybe Forks of the Credit?

Btw, here's a link to that licence plate bracket.

As said before, car looks superb!! Nicely executed my friend:) I didnt realize you had the CFW trunk too, you lucky man:eek:
Nice man...congrats... I like the trunk more and more every day
Funny, my car was in similar shape when I first bought it, only half the miles and 18 inch rims....

Now all you need to do is lower it to make it look less like a 4x4 :)

Thanks tomedkaz :D yeah my mileage is rather high, but the car drives really well and so far absolutely no issues (crosses fingers).

I'll be lowering the fronts this weekend(likely Sunday).
One thing I've noticed with my set of eibachs is that the they are really low, lower than most pictures of Rs with Eibach's I've seen. My tires are nearly tucking under, and if I had 235/40/18 tires there would be virtually no gap at all..

After the install with the front EIBACH.

Thanks for the compliments!!! Yeah I was wondering if you were going to hit me with the info. Well I contacted the guy at CCmustangbrackets, and he has the Satin Black in Stock (it's not posted on the site anymore). So I'll likely get the no drill bracket from him. Thanks again!

The Wasaga cruise was way back in May and the weather sucked, and that's when I first got the body kit installed. Only a few of us went (like 7 cars total)...

Not sure if there will be any other meets, perhaps we can start another meet sometime in mid-late august similar to the Ikea Meet back in June...
Would love to see an interior pic with the polished spaceball installed! Did you paint the body moldings too?

You asked, and shall receive :D It's a little dirty right now with my finger prints, dust and residue... and I still need to clear it. I'm seriously considering polishing all the trims within the car to look like the newer S60 aluminum trims.

Yes, the body moldings were painted, they were originally black grey trim. Following jstro's guidance and removal tips I was able to get this painted. I actually painted the front trims and door panels, and the rear piece I threw to the body guy that painted the rear sport kit valance and skirts. Looks much better IMHO for TiGrey and SaphBlack cars..

So far every mod is more on the cosmetic side (other than the dryflow filter, strut bar, lowering springs, brake pads etc).

What's in the plans are more for performance and further maintenaince now that the car looks better and looks faster (lol)
In no order of particular:

- New Collar sleeve and Angle Gear flush
- Custom Intake Box with R Kelly CAI
- Dual or Quad exhaust through CFW Passenger Exhaust Panel
- Upgraded Rotors + SS Lines
- Upgraded Endlinks & Sways
- Softloader ECU Tune (Rica or AutoTech)

More possible cosmetic:

- Replacement Window Trims
- Front bumper refinish Paint + CFW V Lip modification + Possible permanent joining of the 2 through body work..
- B-Line R Headlight dismantle; TSX Projector retrofit with Projector Bezels. Headlight Shroud repaint with 2 tone silver and graphite/anthracite design.
- Rear Taillight LED Mod

As I type, I realize that this list is endless...

Thanks man. Actually, I haven't been to one yet with this car. Most of the simple maintenance I've been doing myself. I'll be bringing it to Suter's Auto in Aurora for a Collar sleeve check and engine level maintenance before winter.

btw, did I just meet you at Kennedy commons this wednesday?
