Well as of today, it's officially 6 months of ownership of my MY2004 Titanium Grey S60R and as a celebration of getting over 1000 posts on Swedespeed. I'm presenting to you my R as it sits today and an evolution of it in a sequence of pictures as to how it came to be.
I'm proud of it and how the R is holding up, as well as proud of how it's evolved over the last couple months since I took over. The original owner is still in contact with me and he's seen some recent photos of the car and is in complete awe as to what it has become.
Just a background about myself... I'm an avid Volvo fan, My family has been Volvo owners for decades. My family used to own an old 80s Volvo 244 (actually uncles, but my dad liked it a lot), and then in the 90s a brand new Volvo 744 TiC(this became my first car and first love) I began wrenching this car when it was passed onto me and I learned a lot about car repairs, upgrades, mods including very ghetto ones like cutting springs, zipties, hose clamps you name it.(thank you TB!). A few years ago, my dad bought a brand new 2005 S60 2.5T AWD and fortunately I was given the opportunity to drive it. In my later years of school and my first job, I then bought a used 850 GLT and it's still with me now (and being revamped). Dad has since switched to a C30, lol really not his style but he loves it. But it was until Dec 2009 where the 850 GLT died a miserable death(err maybe coma) blowing it's weak 13G turbo and resulted in perma storage(I have been working on her lately though).
This is how the current R came to be and in my hands...
When I first took ownership of this car, it had 98K on the odometer and at the time I was in a huge rush looking for a car. It was merely a hit or miss, and realistically I would have been at great risk of getting something really bad if I was not as lucky. This was obviously not the case, the owner was great and very positive throughout the whole ordeal and he presented all the receipts and service records and the car was in fantastic shape.
I couldn't resist not modding her, since I heavily modded the 850, and I modded the 740. And a lot of the mods I actually did myself or with some help of my best friend where we tackled them together just like the cars and previous cars we've owned. (Thanks Man!) I've gotten my hands dirty on her so many times that I lost count, which includes the damn wheel bearing, painting the new lip, waxing her over and over again, mounting the pcc spoiler, fixing the darn droop, trying to mix nordcap paint, sanding the bloody spaceball, painting the front lip, trying to fix the darn roof trims (GAWD I was so pissed that it's not fixable and couldn't fix it before the meet) the list goes on and on... Sweat, blood and more sweat(no tears

) has gone into this car.
Here she was 6 months ago with the pictures on an ad online.

I then mounted the
machined finish Pegs that were originally on the 850 GLT (posted on VS) about 2 weeks later...
April 2010 -
Voxx Misanos and 05 Taillights.
May 2010 - Huge upgrades! Got my hands on martinbs's oem sport kit with side skirts and rear. along with winglets from this forum. Unfortunately I experienced an odd setback with the foglights exploding on me when I tried to clean them a bit. Got the kit painted along with the side trims. I also installed Henry's PCC Spoiler and new exhaust tips. also minor mods like Fog light grille de-texturize and new paint. Pictures are from the
Wasaga meet for those that remember.
Late May 2010 - Clear Headlights from Luciano and a couple minor under the hood mods...
June 2010 - Interior mods -
Polished spaceball surround as some of you know, IPD door gauge install, TWM Shifter etc. Sorry no pics of this on hand...
July 2010 -CarbonFiberWerks V Style Lip -

Eibach rears
So from the last couple months; from absolutely no lookers to plenty of looks on the streets and at meets wondering what car this is. Believe me, before my car, was only Lowenharts car on Toronto streets with the Full Sport Kit including winglets, Canada never got the option.
I personally have to thank Swedespeed in general for all the inspiration, entertainment, guidance, information, advice and most importantly friendship ( you should know who you are ;-) . Without this forum, I wouldn't know where to start or how to solve certain problems as easily and probably would have went in circles..
So here's my way of contributing back to the forum and hopefully you'll find this thread entertaining, inspiring or just downright RRRRonderful...
