I can get one for about $83 Canadian. It has two 6 oz cans, adapter hose and fittings, retro fit valve to meet gov specs, and is compatible with R12 and R134A systems. I have a 88' 745 turbo. Has anyone tried these kits? Are they any good? Hard to use? Thanks.
P.S. At least this place is up and running!!!

I just did it to our 240. It's definitely not as efficient as it was, and I think I'm going to pony up for a real upgrade kit from Volvo next spring. I'm going to suffer in silence for the rest of the season, but I have to run it on max with fastest fan speed to cool the car down on hot days now....and hope I can keep my speed up to keep the compressor nice and strong.

I've used the kits with decent results. Like George said...the retrofit is not quite as efficient. IMHO, it beats the pants off of no AC at all though.
On my old 240, the AC was quite cold but I had to add more freon than perscribed by most people. I was able to buy a kit with 24oz R134, 8oz oil, and nipples. I dumped an extra can of R134 into the system after a week of use. Once that was done, the AC would cool great.
Cheers,
Prospero

I recharged two years ago with a kit from WallyWorld and I have similar results. Not as efficient as before but sure beats the pants off of no a/c at all.

Yeah...Kai, How could I forget?
It's all good though...you're so cool that you don't need AC anyhow.
Besides, isn't that the reason why you did all of mods? Make the car go faster so you stay cooler.
Cheers!
Prospero
