Ever See a 260 turbo?

Alright, I started this in another thread, but it warrants its own. Anyone ever see the 6cyl turbo installed in a 240. It never came with a manual, though it's still be a screamer even with the auto...

Second, anyone know of the feasibility of changing the car to a manual? They made manual 6cyl models right?

I've never seen or heard of a 260 turbo, but you could indeed get a 260 with a manual - my ex-roommate had a '78 264 with an M46. Regardless of how unloved the B28 is, his was an excellent car, and turbocharging it would have been sweet.

George, I know what you're talking about. I've seen a website that has put the S80 T6 motor in a 242 over in Sweden...can't find the link though. You could probably find it off of Juha's page, the "Tractor Pulling Center"...volvonet.org. I haven't had time to look for it...it's an amazing job though. There is also a guy in Oregon I believe, John Lane, who has taken the PRV V6 from a 260, thrown the Eagle Premiere heads on it, that bumps it to 3.0 liters I believe, and then threw a huge turbo on it...500 Lb-ft on the dyno! It's a rally car, he has a Ford 9" rear, and a plethora of other suspension mods...apparently a real screamer. I was thinking of keeping the B28 I pull out of my 262C and doing something like what he did, just more streetable...but dunno if time or money would allow. Gotta get my 4cyl and M46 combo in there soon, the B55 3 speed auto isn't cutting it!

Oh by the way, saw your message in the other thread...I would love for the 262C to be a feature car...I will try and take pics of everything I do and let you know when I'm ready!

The 260 came with a B27F or B28F engine, the 760 came with the B28F or B280F (The 760 Turbo was actually a 4cyl turbo, same engine as the 740 Turbo), and the 960 came with an engine similar to the white block 5cyl, but none of those 6 cylinder engines came turbocharged from the factory. AFAIK, the first 6cyl turbo gas engine from Volvo is the T-6 (B6284T) offered in the S80.

As ever man, your knowledge is much appreciated as the older cars are newer to me. That link is awesome. The dark blue one, in particular, looks pretty cool. Those look like Compomotive rims on that I am guessing.

The T-6 is just a little more than bolt in I would imagine. Oh well.
