everyone on this forum has been so very helpful, & absolutely awsome,<br>that i thought i may as well push the envelope, & ask if anyone knows<br>a reference site for the evaporative system...<br>seems i developed a "small leak" per my P0442 code.<p>'98 w/148k miles <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/wink.gif" BORDER="0">

Yep...make sure it gets several clicks when you put it back on after a fill-up.

gas cap will set lage leak not small leak.......best guess without proper testing equipment from volvo........evap valve, sits on lh side of upper radiator

Best guess is wrong. It's almost always in the fuel system IN THE REAR

Under the car, follow the gas line back to the gas tank...in front of it....a canister and a sensor valve. Check all the lines for leak as well as the valve...I understand the hose called the "J hose" that goes from the canister to the sensor valve is often the culprit. If these aren't them, then it's probably the canister.<BR><BR>
