Has anyone received this letter from volvo uk. Apparently there was a thing raised on Watchdog on BBC about this issue.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/...shtml

They have written to me about this, but from everything I have seen it doesnt relate to the S40. Is this also an S40 problem or is this a Volvo 'belt & braces' approach - just mail everyone so we are covered???

The TSB for Volvo USA is the one below, and no mention of it for the S40?

I actually saw this item on Watchdog and the S40/V50 is not affected as far as I know -

All of the following models with petrol engines are affected: not just the 1999-2001 V70s and C70s, but the S60, S70, S80, XC70 and the model year 2002 V70 non-turbos and C70s. Also, all S60 and V70 Bi fuel models are affected.

Volvo are getting a bit of stick on WD - the other week the story about XC90's catching fire was broadcast.
From the owners accounts they all seem to be electrical fires, and are not really doing Volvo's name in the UK much good as they (Volvo) seem to be loath to look into the cause of these fires.
