I know this topic has come around a few times, but time has passed, so perhaps new products have come out or opinions have changed.
Is Evolve still the ones to get?
Also does anyone have a walk through for installing them? or pointers?

Re: Engine Mounts (Farbon Ciber5)

Not having tried a poly mount for 4 years, I have no idea if the new ones are any different, but as of 4 years ago the Evolve black mount was the "best" one for my taste.

OEM one is complete crap. Depending on if you have MT or GT and the condition of your other mounts, you may get unwanted vibrations with the Evolve Black mount.

I just checked Evolves site and it states that the black wont work for 05 and up. Am I missing something?

Re: Engine Mounts (MagoonR)

OEM is designed to allow movement and makes for good driveability (ie no vibration). (there are obvious signs of movement)

Evolve, IPD, etc are designed for performance but there are trade-offs (virbation, drivetrain noise, etc).

Personally, I don't love the vibration but I REALLY like the reduced slack in the drivetrain. Re: Engine Mounts (Farbon Ciber5)

When is anyone going to come up with a better/stiffer design for the rest of the engine mount(excluding the lower tranny and the upper one)? Shifting after hard acceleration with a stage 3 clutch is not fun at all.
There is too much engine movement. You have to wait for the engine to get back in normal position and then fhift unless you want to break something.

The OEM 04 is much better than the replacement square but both are too much flex for my tastes. I have the improved IPD blue and the QBM lower tranny mount (also the IPD strut mount inserts)......and am happy.

Re: Engine Mounts (MagoonR)

Sorry to bring this one back from the dead but I am just getting around to this
So to clarify. there are two different parts here. The mount and the bushing?
If I go with the new IPD mount, do I just remove the OEM mount and bushing and replace it with the IPD mount and bushing?
How does this replace the connection from the mount to the bar across the engine?
How much stiffer is the new IPD blue compared to OEM?
Finally, does anyone have a walkthrough of the removal and installation?

Thanks as always

Re: Engine Mounts (Farbon Ciber5)

If your car has the round style mount already then all you need is the bushing. If you have the square style then you need the mount and bushing. Installation should be pretty straight forward but I think you need to remove the engine cover to replace the mount.
If you look at the above pictures, the two lateral bars screwed to the bushing connect to the bar across the engine. If you do a good inspection of the whole assembly you'll see how it works.
All the poly mounts will be stiffer than OEM and you probably will get increased vibrations. As I said before, the Evolve black is the softest.

Re: Engine Mounts (JRL)

Hmm, I am thinking I do not want to make my ride rougher right now. Should I just replace the bushing then and call it a day?
If so who do I call for best price?
