I seem to be feeling more engine vibration in my '64 Amazon these days. The engine mounts are almost 20 years old -- have they hardened with age? The engine runs smooth and strong right up to redline, and the problem is most noticeable at idle and low revs (idle is pretty lumpy, due to an Isky street cam). I have some slightly used mounts on the shelf, which feel okay when I squeeze them. but they're all at least 20 years old as well.

Or maybe I've been spoiled by driving new cars....

I would venture 20 years is about 10 years too old for any rubber component, if they are not rock hard they have most certainly flattened out by now. Mounts are cheap, easy to install and take all of an hour or so to change out. Might as well upgrade to the HD versions out of a 142 while your at it. Don't forget to do the transmission mount as well, the manual cars use the same mount. Hopefully that helps!
