Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, but I wasn't able to find any discussion with the same issue.
The other day I decided to overtake a slow car and probably reved the engine a bit too high. (about 300RPM before the RedLine). As a reached that RPM, while I was next to the car I was overtaking, the engine just switched off. So I ended up pulling in in front of him and slowly grinding to a halt as I flicked the car into neutral. Made me look like an idiot.
After switching the ignition off and restarting the engine, everything was normal again.
I tried reving it hard again and the same thing happened at exactly the same RPM. So I suspect it is an electrical setting or issue.
The car is a 2007 V50 1.6D
When I got it home, no Fault Codes flagged up at all.
Is this maybe a problem with the rev limiter? Is it an issue or a feature? Either way, it's pretty dangerous when you find yourself on the wrong side of the road with no power.
Thanks
