Hi,

I am new to the world of Volvos. I have been scouring the internet on trying to figure out what type of engine is in a 1967 Volvo 122S I am looking to purchase.

On the left side of the engine block it has only two (of which I read was normally four) raised numbers and a flat punched section containing the last four for the number.

The two numbers raised on the block are 49 with the four numbers stamped being 8048 ( so ID number is 498048).

The engine block looks identical to a B18A (Single Carb) however the ID number for a B18A is 496814.

Can anyone help me out?

Looks like the B18B that the car came with, except for the Weber upgrade and the stainless flex fan. Oh, and the custom coil wiring job. :)

Probably an enthusiast's car, a long ways back. Look for other goodies.
