Recently the engine fan on my 04 XC70 (about 80k miles) has been running every time I turn the car on and only stops when I turn the car off. Its summer and the weather has turned hot, but that wouldn't explain why the fan comes on first thing in the morning after the car has sat overnight. Any thoughts as to why this is happening would be appreciated. Thanks.

A start or I think the fan also has a sensor/thermostat
Coolant temp sensors do go bad on cars and especially Volvos.
If it's stuck (in hot) it will always call for max cooling
I hope the answer is as simple as that, it can be, better it always running than NOT running!
