Group:
'09 S80 3.2 base model. After not using the car much for two months, today I started it and gor a message: Electric parking brake service required!

Had a Volvo specialist look at codes and it said no communication with the Module.
I removed at the fuse and SAW nothing wrong. I also notice a fuse position labeled Electric Parking Brake (Driver Side), as well as one for Passenger side. Is that for the RHD market?

If not being driven for a time is the cause, I would suspect a connection issue. Where do I look for the connectors?

Also, Erie Volvo sells two modules on e-bay that are said to fot '09 S80 all engines. They have different part numbers.
Erie says have to look at the existing one. Where is the module?
If the 30 amp fuse is actually blown, is that a cause of no communication?
Or is the electronic wires separate from the power wires.

Finally is there any reason to not drive the car? Will I have the parking brake lock up even if I do not use it?

Thanks, Richard

Problem solved!
It was as the tech said, the module in the trunk.
A used one from Erie Volvo plugged right ina nd the error message went away.

Hi. I know this is from a bit ago but I'm hoping you might be able to specify what module it was that you replaced? I left my xc60 parked for 9 days and returned to this message. It goes away randomly, but I can't figure out what went wrong.
The fuses look fine to me, so I'm guessing its something affecting the communication with the motors. Thanks in advance for any advice.
