http://shop.quicktimeperforman...&p=25
I did a search on the forum and didn't see anything and was really curious about this on an R. Not necessarily the linked item.
I was speaking with a friend of mine who has an Audi and he is thinking of doing a dump tube controlled by boost. The way it would work is when he hits max boost the exhaust will open just after the downpipe, more flow and more power. I then went on to search for something similar for the R and came across the one linked above.
I know this is actually fairly common, but the question is, what do we, the R population, think of such a mod? Any benefits/gains? Any thoughts or opinions?
Thanks all.

Re: Electric Cut Out, Anyone know anything? (HJZ)

its gonna be loud at 100% open dump...I ran open downpipe for a week or so and it gets pretty ridiculous...its like really loud...ATP sells a boost-controlled dump...probably the best one around if you're still interested....they do have a tendancy to leak though, so watch out.

How much would it hurt the engine/turbo to have Intake, Stage 2 ECU, Downpipe, Boost Dependent Cut-Out, and STOCK EXHAUST (for quietness when not above 5lbs of boost). Don't forget you can control when the valve opens up by putting a MBC on.

Re: Electric Cut Out, Anyone know anything? (HJZ)

I thought of doing such a mod on my V70R (an electrically-controlled cut-out). My brother had it on his Supra turbo for a while. Problem is, there didn't look like there would be enough room under an R to add a cut-out. And you don't want it to hang down low, or it will scrape on everything and eventually get damaged, and maybe cause collateral damage. So I just removed my muffler. I don't think it is loud until you hit the upper RPM's at wide open throttle. Then it is nice and loud.
Huh, what's that you say? I can't hear you.

I am still working with my mechanic (very capable of just about anything) on making a custom exhaust fitted to the car. This will happen some time in the future. I may just work this into it and see what approach he would recommend.
Regarding the ATP VES, I'm trying to convince my buddy in the Audi to get it so I can hear it . He actually pointed me to them as well.

There is a small video on the site, it gives somewhat of an idea of what it would sound like, but i know nothing beats real life.

http://www.atpturbo.com/root/r...4.htm

Re: (phuz)

But it is on an otherwise bone stock car....only listed upgrades are A/M Turbo Kit and 3" DP running 15lbs (just about what we do stock) I think on our cars with BPU's we'd see some decent numbers.
