Yup...BS
Once our cars are lowered (which I recently did) the camber is SEVERELY tire-chewingly negative...
Wondering if these work....Dont really want to buy completely new adjustable control arms (VIVA has them) but more than likely will have to
The stock setup is just a design flaw/cut-corner if I had to put my $.02 in!!!!

I am pretty sure that kit pictured won't work with the 04.5+ S40...Viva's arms are the best bet for us. I'm planning on picking some up. From what I hear they are a pain to install and can take quite some time. I will probably just have my indie shop do it for me when the time comes.

Those do not work. Our cars don't use those silly crash bolts. If you want proper rear camber with a lowered car you need to buy a REAL set of adjustable control arms. You gotta pay to play.

They do work. My dealer installed them for me yesterday. The rear is good now finally.

Wait... everyone else but you is saying they DONT work, but you had them installed on a 2004.5+ S40 the other day and they DO work???

I think he is talking about the adjustable camber arms (as shown in a couple posts up), not just the little screw set that is in the original post...otherwise I don't know what he is talking about, I specifically asked my indie volvo repair guy and he said the arms are the only real option, anything else is just a gimmick (for now)...

They can be bought for around $80 each (you need two). I hear the install can be a pain though. I'm planning on getting some and when I am having my indie repair guy do my 60k service having him install them...even if it is $100+ in labor fees that is WAY cheaper than the cost of new tires every 6-12 months due to tire wear...

That would be awesome if you could post a write up! If it is easy enough for me to do that would save me some money, and I was planning on getting an alignment anyway....Thanks!

Do it yourself, its not that bad. You just need torx and sockets and about an hour. The rear suspension is so easy to work on.

The last checkup I had at the dealership told me the reason for the negative camber at the rear is to improve cornering.... is that true or just some BS made up from them.

Well in all actually yes negative camber produces better handling as it keeps more of the contact patch of the tire on the pavement when cornering. However it can cause tire wear when driving straight as the tire is tilted inward. By how little the S40 has negative camber in the rear i cant really see it increasing handling by much to make it worth while though from the factory, that sounds like an excuse from the dealer however the physics of how camber works is true.

For most people sounds like you guys need to get adjustable arms as your cars are more centered around daily drivers where massive amounts of negative camber arent necessary lol.

i dont think that the camber will eat up your tires that fast. i never did the arms and my tires have been on my car for 16 months with my car lowered for about 11 of them and have plenty of thread. but i dont know if your 19 make a difference .
