Please help me,

I desperately want the plastic eggcrate grill that is on '99 V70xc, c70 hpt, new s60 etc. Does any aftermarket company make the grey plastic eggcrate grill with volvo emblem for an 850 application? If not, could I fabricate one very easily from a V70 xc or any other newer volvo?

Please, I need this look badly on my '96 854R!!

Thanks.

No, there is no aftermarket company makes that style grille for you car. It's already hard to find an aftermarket grille for you car, and I know just IPD and another European co. makes the mesh style one for the 850s.

Can you fab one easily from the existing XC grille? NO, of course not. Their grille is samller, it'd more impossible than matter of easy or not.

Eggcrate style is not all that....at least I think the new C70 w/ that grille looks silly.

You might be able to fab one yourself and put the slash and the badge of your old grille on it. That'll be the easiest way at this point.

The one on the V70 XC mk I had it, but I don't think that'd fit your 850. The 850's grill is larger than the mk I 700-series. Now if you had an S70, you could do it.

You may be able to talk a body kit company into making one, but I don't know how marketable the product would be. Making one yourself would be very tough.

I belive IPD used to carry a line of grille just like that. I'm sure you can probably get the bodyshop to paint it under $50.

I painted up my stock grille satin black with the chrome surround and diagonal strips left as is - it looks really mean compared to the all chrome version and was not hard to do.

Getting the grille off is easy, it's just the masking that takes time.

I thought about doing the black centre section of the diagonal in body colour - maybe when the weather improves.

I do still have it but I keep all the parts for my car just in case I need or want to put her back to original form. My advice would be to get a used one and paint it up, but even if you used yours if you had it done properly it would turn out.
