ECU and Fuel Economy?

572 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  GrecianVolvo
I have a 850-T5 and I am considering an ECU upgrade. I know there are obvious HP increases but are there any real tangible MPG / Fuel Economy increases with these upgrades? Or does the fuel economy drop? I find mention where there is some increases but no real tangible data. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Can I assume from the lack of responces that no one has any tangible data on fuel economy after an ECU upgrade?
i've got ipd/tme's ecu and exhaust. no real noticeable drop in mileage. around 17-19 in town, and if u drive really nicely, u can get near or over 30 mpg on the freeways, but 28 mpg is more realistic.
My stats would mirror Steve's. I get 17-ish around town, which is similar to b4 I put in the ipd ECU (in search of the perfect exhaust still). Most of my driving is in-town with lots of stop-n-go and trips around 3 miles. However, since the car is *SO* much more fun to drive now, my real-world city mileage is 15-16. Highway mileage is and has been 26-30mpg.

Hope that helps! I just write off the mileage as one cost of having an engine under the hood that generates more power than a motor with twice the displacement.

Same here...I have not noticed any significant difference!
