Re: ebay ms design sideskirts, what do you think? (SDS40)
They are not real MS Design, but illegal fiberglass copies (actual MS Design is polyurethane). I would want to see pictures of the real thing first since it is obvious all pictures in the ad are of actual genuine MS Design products. Companies that blatantly rip off others design 100% are kinda lame in my book as they are just stealing other's hard earned R&D and making money off them.
I'd recommend the dynamic trim OEM ones over knock offs, as the dynamic trim ones are very similar, and the pricing is similar. Also, if you note from the description they say they aren't primed or prepped at all, you have to do all of that. And there is a chance they don't fit right since they use their disclaimer that 15% of the time there are minor to major fitment problems. If they are quality they should be willing to show a picture of the actual item they are selling, and not using pics of the genuine item they are copying...just my two cents. You can call Larry at Carlsen Volvo in Palo Alto and he can hook you up on a good price for a set of oem dynamic trim sideskirts, and he matches prices. I have bought numerous oem parts from him and am always satisfied.
I will eventually be selling my ms design side skirts because I am not a big fan of them, or any other available option for that matter, so I plan on just making my own set that are one-offs.
Yeah, I was trying to be nice about mentioning that particular company's quality issues. I really do hate companies like that that just find an item that looks good and tries to make cheap knock offs of them. Now if they were quality replicas I would say try it out since MS doesn't seem to care about the US market any more, but they don't appear to be very reputable sellers so I still say OEM dynamic trim for roughly the same price is your best bet, and I think they are the nicest side skirts for our cars, besides Evolve (but they have fitment/quality control issues as well sometimes).
I really do wish MS Design still did stuff for our cars but sadly they don't over here in the states. I think they have some great designs on other cars that could translate to our cars very nicely.
Ebay? Fiberglass? No thanks.
I'll never buy a fiberglass body part. They usually fit terribly requiring a lot of work to get them to fit right, and I don't care how much flex agent they put in there, sooner or later it's going to crack. Poly urethane, ABS or CF, and only from a reputable company.
Yeah besides their shisty reputation looks like the product is just another typical ebay knock off which you can guarantee will be sub par quality. The MS designs side skirts are pretty sweet compared to whats available however like AJ said i prefer something with OE fitment which "none of the above" seem to be. Makes you wonder why Heico doesnt make side skirts huh
